So it has been a few days since we returned home from our short tour down to Austin and back. We had a really wonderful experience. Here are some reflections on our trip: We played our first show in Ames at DGs Tap House and had a blast. Crazy birthday party for Melvin the Mel-Man. Kind of a different show to play as our Ames debut, but it was definitely an entertaining and good time.
We reunited with the wonderful Oklahoma Cloud Factory in Tulsa (check them out they are great!). Such great people, and it was such a pleasure to play with them again.
We got to play 2 nights in Austin at two wonderful venues that we hope to play at again sometime (Hotel Vegas & Cheer Up Charlies). Saw our great friend Paul Kresowik who now plays with the outstanding band The Western Front (formerly of Iowa and now out of Austin). We also played with the Austin band Magia Negra... super talented musicians and really great people. Super thankful that Casual Strangers helped us out with sharing gear. Had great conversations with Tsvetelina & James of Same Sex Mary. Met many local musicians and music lovers in Austin who were so nice and encouraging. So appreciative that friends from home in Iowa and work either living or passing through Austin came out to see us. And let's not forget the time spent not playing, wandering the streets of Austin with excellent recommendations from Paul & Victor.
We are really looking forward to making this trip again - hopefully before next January!
